Thursday June 1 saw the Ancoats Dispensary team along with our architects Purcell UK display the latest designs for The Dispensary in a public consultation event held at Halle St Michael’s in the heart of Ancoats.

Public consultation is a really important element to our restoration and development of The Dispensary because we want this building to reflect the needs and aspirations of the people who will be using it. Ancoats Dispensary Trust board members Linda Carver and Jackie Marston hosted the drop in event from 3pm to 8pm, accompanied by architect Robert Burke from Purcell UK.

A range of design concepts were on display along with the now famous Ancoats Dispensary tapestry created by the people of Ancoats. Visitors were also given the opportunity to answer a questionnaire asking for their opinions on the proposed designs, for both the exterior.

Trevor MacFarlane, chair of Ancoats Dipsensary Trust and Ancoats Dispensary Limited, said: ‘As we prepare for our Round 2 bid for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, public consultations such as these form such an important part of the engagement process with the people of Ancoats. After all, this is a building which the trust wants to save for everyone who lives and works in the area, and those who come to explore Ancoats in years to come.’
